Shawn Castonguay, from Carleton Place. I am 18 years old and I have been singing since I was 13. I have sung at many fundraisers and benefit concerts in the local area. My band members are Mike Souter, David Hagerman, Cliff Menzies and Devon Waters, who are also from Carleton Place. These guys are all from different local bands helping a friend out here. Thanx guys!!
Just for Starters THURSDAY AUGUST 18 @ 2:00 pm
Just For Starters was created back in 2003 in good ol' Ottawa Ontario. We have taken this time to perfect what we think are songs that show what four determined guys can do when being truly passionate about their music. Ensuring that every song has its own style and flavor, always leaving the listener to wonder what we will introduce next.

The band consists of: Stefan Wetcher (vocals, guitar) ...Max Dylak (vocals, guitar) ...Travis Gauthier (bass) ...Luke Baxter (drums). JFS has played shows all over Ottawa, but what we would like to do in the future is tour and plays our music in every single country you can think of. Even if we have to play for the penguins in Antarctica, we're gonna do it and we're gonna do it with style... and a bit of sexiness.

Sharps and Flats THURSDAY AUGUST 18 @ 3:00 pm
The Sharps and Flats started over two decades ago, as one of the many daytime activities of The Good Companions performing arts. Band members are aged 55+ with a shared bond of the love of music. Their repertoire consists of over 700 popular songs from the 20’s to the 80’s. One can see their fun and enthusiastic approach to music in their many performances at community centers, dances, weddings and fundraisers.
Chardi Kala Bhangra Dance THURSDAY AUGUST 18 @ 4:00 pm
“Chardi Kala” meaning in good spirits, was used to name the latest Bhangra group of the nations capital. Bhangra, a folk dance from Punjab, India has been around since the 13th century, but now here in Canada, Bhangra is becoming very popular. Dancing for you this afternoon are some of Ottawa’s most talented bhangra dancers, including the likes of Amrit Singh Jande, Rajwinder Singh Gill and Gurpdeep Singh Dhaliwal. Enjoy and learn about the heritage of Punjab through this unique cultural dance.

Kira THURSDAY AUGUST 18 @ 6:00 pm
This dynamic young performer has graced the stages at the SuperEx for four years in a row. She began singing at the age of six and has wowed Ottawa audiences with her amazing voice at the Tulip festival and on the C.H.E.O. telethon. Kira will be performing a selection of pop/rock as well as an original composition that she wrote.

The Red Jets, Amanda (Drums, Vocals), Dan (Bass), Renato (Guitar, Vocals) are a dynamic teenage band who know what rock is all about. They have performed for audiences at the SuperEx, the Canadian Tulip Festival, and local fundraisers. Their play list blends current hits from artists like The White Stripes and The Hives; with classics from the Beatles and the Kinks for a total high-energy show that will keep you singing and dancing to your favorite rock songs.
Sharon Liff THURSDAY AUGUST 18 @ 9:00 pm
This is Sharon's third performance at the SuperEx and it won't be her last. With her high-energy vocals she brings new life to old rock and roll. Her clear strong voice and "never take yourself too seriously" attitude have served her well performing with many local bands over the years. She is sure to entertain.

Youthful Peter Patry is an Ottawa native that has been performing for years. He has competed in various competitions around the Ottawa area, and has been a contestant on Canadian Idol. Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, as well as his taste for Pop, rock, R&B;, and Dance music influence his style. He will be performing his 8 original songs.
Shauna & Ashley Carwardine & Emily White FRIDAY, AUGUST 19 @ 2:00 pm
A new performer to the EX, audiences are sure to love the calm maturity in Shauna's vocal delivery. Her beauty in spirit and voice are well matched by her command of repertoire. Talent runs deep in the Carwardine family and her sister Ashley will also take the stage for a song.
Rebecca Skye FRIDAY, AUGUST 19 @ 3:00 pm
Rebecca by the age of 10 has performed on the battlefield of Gettysburg, in Texas, and in the heart of the Nation's capital, Ottawa. She's opened for the likes of Wayne Rostad, and fiddled with Natalie McMaster. Rebecca's goal is to not just perform quality music, but to perform music of different nationalities, and different languages. At present she is working on a Celtic CD, where many of the songs will be recorded in Gaelic. She's the future of young music.

Kiwanis Pop Vocal Gold medallist for 2005 including recipient of the Kiwanis Norman Albert Memorial Award, the Kiwanis Laura Casselman Memorial Award and recently crowned "Capital Kid Idol" at the Nepean Parents and Kids Show, 13 year old Alex Lacasse from Orleans Ontario returns to the CHEZ Stage.

Robynn has been entertaining audiences in the Ottawa/Lanark region for the past two years. She is 13 years old and is looking forward to performing on the CHEZ FM stage again this summer. Robynn's set this year consists of a variety of music, such as, rock 'n roll, pop, and Broadway.

Robynn is pleased to have Peter Brown, a well-known jazz musician in the Ottawa region, accompanying her on the piano and also Raphael Storto who drums professionally and they both toured Canada with Mick Taylor in 2003.

Other accompaniments include Erik Glockling, Mark Gauthier and Mike Souter. Come out and enjoy the shows!

Corriveau's School of Dance is a family run business that has been up and running for six years. The head teacher Natacha and her dance partner Jordan won a citywide partner dance competition that was held at Maxwell's. Corriveau's School of dance teaches Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop and Swing in many towns such as Fort-Coulonge, Campbell's Bay, Shawville, Quyon, Luskville and Aylmer.

Set Off Course SATURDAY, AUGUST 20 @ 10:00 pm
Set Off Course is a 3 piece pop-punk band from Ottawa, Ont. Set Off Course has performed in a variety of different venues, from places like Zaphods, Mavericks, and Babylon, to festivals like Emergenza and The Terry Fox Alumni wheel chair relay.

They have just recently finished recording their first demo, and are now working on getting their music heard, with 14 original songs completed and an energetic clean sound, they love performing, playing at new venues and in front of all sorts of new people.

The Ottawa Puppetry Club SUNDAY, AUGUST 21 @ 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 pm
Stick around after the show and create your own puppet in our FREE craft workshop. Our membership is a mix of experienced puppeteers, some with their own performing troupes, and amateur puppeteers with an interest in learning the art of puppetry. In the spring, everyone volunteers time and talent to mount the annual OPC Puppet Variety Show, a showcase of diverse puppetry styles. On May 1st, we performed for an hour & 15 minutes at the St. Laurent Community Centre to a standing room only crowd.

Thrive TUESDAY, AUGUST 23 @ 1:00
Thrive is an exciting new Hip Hop dance troupe of young vibrant artists produced by Bonnie’s Hip Hop Dance Academy. Bonnie’s Hip Hop Dance Academy also offers hip-hop classes in Rockland, Casselman, Embrun and Hawkesbury.

The “Thrive” dance troupe was established in 2004, formed of 7 experienced dancers and performers. Thrive is growing to be a well-known and innovative dance troupe. Thrive not only provides quality performances, it utilizes dance as a tool to create a positive atmosphere for youths. The performances are choreographed by Bonnie Peltzer, owner of Bonnie’s Hip Hop Dance Academy

Sri - Lanken Traditional Dance Group TUESDAY, AUGUST 23 @ 2:00
This is the Sri-Lankan Traditional and Cultural Dance and Music Group, working for about ten years in Canada.

This group varies between both traditional and classical items in this program using live drums, tabla, flute, cymbals and a very early traditional instrument named Rabana (percussion).

Vocal singing by professional singer D. Hettige created from Hindustani Classical and folk music.

Drum beats-Performers: Prabhadi Manjarie, Bheeshmon Sunjeeva and Swadhi Ranganee.

Sri-Lankan Traditional Dance and Music Group presents today a special Kandyan and Low Country traditional dance with live drumming and also modernized choreographing from Mudhra Dance.

The Kandyan Dance style was especially developed in the age of kings, and the Low Country Dance was developed through religion.

From being a model, actor, singer and published author, this multi-talented young artist moved to the big city of Toronto to pursue his dream and came back after three years. One of his best qualities is his perseverance and has proved it by having two original songs under his name, written and published his first thriller last year.

The Sharps and Flats started over two decades ago, as one of the many daytime activities of The Good Companions performing arts. Band members are aged 55+ with a shared bond of the love of music. Their repertoire consists of over 700 popular songs from the 20’s to the 80’s. The “Thrive” dance troupe was established in 2004, formed of 7 experienced dancers and performers. Thrive is growing to be a well-known and innovative dance troupe. Thrive not only provides quality performances, it utilizes dance as a tool to create a positive atmosphere for youths. The performances are choreographed by Bonnie Peltzer, owner of Bonnie’s Hip Hop Dance Academy

The Don Dutches hip hop dance group is composed of six very young talented dancers , whose profound love for dancing has brought them together to share their passion with others. Lodi, Taz, Saj, Nancy, Henry and Hussein are dedicated performers whose eclectic style of dance combined with their enthusiasm for hip hop has allowed them to flourish into a metaphor of urban lifestyle.

You may have seen them once at Jack Purcell, twice at the Immaculata talent show, the fashion show at St. Matt's, and at an open mic show at Babylon's.

Scott Clitsome (magician/juggler) THURSDAY, AUGUST 25 @ 9:00 pm
A comedic and whacky young man whom started magic at the age of ten, he has more than 7 years and a couple hundred performances under his belt. Scott is the youngest member of the Ottawa Society of Magicians. When not attending to his own studies, Scott can be seen most summer days down in Ottawa's Byward Market, juggling fire and doing magic on street corners.
Set Off Course THURSDAY, AUGUST 25 @ 10:00 pm
Set Off Course is a 3 piece pop-punk band from Ottawa, Ont. Set Off Course has performed in a variety of different venues, from places like Zaphods, Mavericks, and Babylon, to festivals like Emergenza and The Terry Fox Alumni wheel chair relay.

They have just recently finished recording their first demo, and are now working on getting their music heard, with 14 original songs completed and an energetic clean sound, they love performing, playing at new venues and in front of all sorts of new people.

The performers are an energetic group of cheerleaders and dancers from the ages of 13 to 17 – all attending schools in Western Quebec. The group performs a number of unique, personally choreographed athletic cheer routines to contemporary music. The background skill set of the girls is based on dance and athletics.
Chardi Kala Bhangra Dance FRIDAY, AUGUST 26 @ 4:00 pm
“Chardi Kala” meaning in good spirits, was used to name the latest Bhangra group of the nations capital. Bhangra, a folk dance from Punjab, India has been around since the 13th century, but now here in Canada, Bhangra is becoming very popular.

Dancing for you this afternoon are some of Ottawa’s most talented bhangra dancers, including the likes of Amrit Singh Jande, Rajwinder Singh Gill and Gurpdeep Singh Dhaliwal. Enjoy and learn about the heritage of Punjab through this unique cultural dance.

"What you make of your life is up to you..", and that's exactly what Peter believed as he left his hometown of Dublin Ireland and ventured to Canada to record his debut album 'Face in the Crowd'. Peter possesses a remarkable gift for melody and an elevated level of clear-headedness. The strength of his voice is striking and effortless.

Peter discovered his talent for song writing at the age of 12, it was clear that a career in music was inevitable. In the summer of 2003, with the support of his parents Adam and Sandie, they left Ireland for the City of Belleville Ontario Canada. This is where Peter would spend the next four months recording and producing his the 'Face in the Crowd' album.

Up to date Peter has made appearances on TV stations: City TV, Cogeco & CKWS. He has had radio play and been interviewed on: CBC Radio Toronto, Dublin’s Newstalk 106FM & Mix 97.1 FM. Peter's also had write ups in such newspapers as: The Sunday Tribune, The Tallaght Echo and such online papers as: Scene and Heard, The Live Music Report & The Canadian Press.

Joel has been working relentlessly since 2001 to spread his music to as many people as possible. Playing over 150 shows across Ontario, including dates with High Holy Days and The Mudmen, has helped push 1000 copies of his first 2 demo CDs.

My name is Meghan Brown, I'm 16 years old and I am currently a student at St. Matthew High School in Orleans. I have been singing and performing since I was 11 and have traveled as far as China and Florida to perform. Besides vocal lessons, I also enjoy guitar lessons, which I have recently taken up. I've recently started writing my own music, some of which will be in the show as long as covers of other songs.
